South Cotabato photographers among grand finalists in 4th PAGCOR national photo contest


Photo entries of South Cotabato-based photography enthusiasts Jobert Espino from Norala, Ma. Milagros Laurente from Polomolok and Michael John Cortez  from the City of Koronadal are among the grand finalists out of thousands of entries submitted for the 4th PAGCOR National Photography Competition.

Espino's "Walkers of the Earth" and Laurente's "Charcoal Making" made it as one of the 20 grand finalists in the conventional category. 



While the entry of Cortez entitled "Song Hits Magazine" is among the 20 grand finalists for the mobile category.

Jobert Espino is a teacher at Lake Sebu National High School while Michael John Cortez just graduated BS Computer Science from AMA Computer Learning Center Koronadal last March. Milagros Laurente according to her Facebook profile works at Dole Philippines in Polomolok.

The PAGCOR National Photography Competition is considered as one of the most prestigious photo competition in the country. This year, the theme was “Throwback” to depict positive images that are reminiscent of the Filipinos’ traditional way of life, cultural practices, native dishes, traits, celebrations, among others.

Out of the 20 finalists in each category, twelve (12) will be proclaimed grand winners and will received P75,000 each for the conventional category and P30,000 each for the 12 grand winners in the mobile category. Pagcor will also have a special award for the “Most Liked” photos, chosen via online voting at PAGCOR’s Facebook page that runs from June 21 to June 26, 2016.
