SRAA Meet 2025 Kicks Off in Koronadal with Grand Opening Ceremony


The SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet 2025 officially opened on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the South Cotabato Sports Complex in Koronadal City.

With over 7,000 delegates from various divisions of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region XII, the week-long sports competition serves as a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, dedication, and sportsmanship. Participating delegations include Cotabato Division, Kidapawan City Division, General Santos City, Sarangani Province, Sultan Kudarat Province, City of Tacurong, Province of South Cotabato, and City of Koronadal City.

This year’s SRAA Meet is co-hosted by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato and the City Government of Koronadal, highlighting the strong partnership and teamwork between the two local governments. Their seamless coordination ensured a smooth, highly organized, and successful opening ceremony, setting the stage for an exceptional sporting event.

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., in his message, emphasized the importance of regional unity and sports excellence, stating:

"Ang magiging resulta ng kompetisyon ngayong linggo ang magpapakita kung gaano kagaling at ka-angat ang Rehiyon 12 sa buong Pilipinas. Kailangan nating ipakita sa buong bansa na ang Rehiyon 12 ay Angat sa Lahat!"

The City Government of Koronadal, led by Mayor Eliordo Ogena, played a vital role in ensuring the event’s success, from logistical preparations to venue readiness. Their support, in partnership with the provincial government, reflects their shared commitment to sports development and youth empowerment.

Thousands of spectators witnessed a vibrant and historic opening ceremony featuring Ceremonial Lighting of the Torch, Torch Relay featuring three Gold Medalists, Lighting of the Olympian Flames, and a Grand Fireworks Display synchronized with music.

The event’s flawless execution highlighted the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, reinforcing the region’s capability to host a large-scale athletic competition.

The ceremony was also graced by key officials, including Vice Governor Arthur Y. Pinggoy Jr., Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena, DepEd Regional Director Carlito D. Rocafort CESO III, and Director Jess Abalos from the Office of the Secretary of DepEd, representing Secretary Hon. Juan Edgardo M. Angara. Tacurong City Mayor George Lechonsito and Kidapawan City Mayor Paolo Evangelista were also present during the opening ceremony.

As the competitions unfold, athletes are expected to display passion, resilience, and discipline in their respective sports. More than just a tournament, SRAA Meet 2025 serves as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, inspire excellence, and highlight SOCCSKSARGEN’s status as a powerhouse in Philippine sports.
